| Installation Guide of Piston Rings for Diesel Engine
Please check the following items before installation：
Check whether the cylinder and the piston damage or not, the piston ring groove abrades or not, the gap between the piston and the wall of cylinder is in good order or not. (The excessively big gap may cause the leakages of oil and air.
· The carbon residue in combustion chamber and the piston ring groove should be cleaned, otherwise the piston ring may block or break. ；
Check the surface roughness and position tolerance of cylinder, piston and linkage, if necessary, replace components properly；
All technical parameters should be consistent with related technical standards, the end gap and the side gap should be proper, the excessively big end gap may cause oil leakage and ring breakage.
Direction for Installation:：
·The piston rings should be installed into the piston ring groove according to proper sequence. Push the base oil ring open properly and install it into the piston ring groove.
The first ring is barrel-surface-shaped ring with chrome-plated or molybdenum-coated finished surface.
Usually, the second ring is a kind of cone ring. Marked side should face the top of piston. The unmarked ring should be installed with the side with inner step or inner chamfer angle upward and the side with outer step downward.
The third ring is a kind of spiral stay spring oil ring generally. First embed the spiral stay ring into the piston ring groove and then install the ring body into the groove. The joint of spring should be opposite the gap.
To avoid the leakage of combustible gas mixture, the gaps of piston rings should be staggered mutually with the staggered angle of 90°, 120°and 180°. Furthermore, the gaps can not be positioned in the place of piston pin. Ring and groove should be coated with lubricants while being installed.
Important Information:
· The engine that is newly equipped piston rings should use suitable engine oil with proper injection to keep the oil way unobstructed; the crankcase should be well ventilated; the engine should use specified fuel and adjust the duration of ignition to avoid shocking; the water temperature of engine should be strict controlled. In initial stage of running-in period, the engine may discharge little light blue smoke, especially for the engine that replaces piston rings only and does not replace cylinder liner and piston; for engine that replaces piston rings only, cold running in and low-speed operation according to related criterions are required to avoid scuffing of cylinder bore.
Installation Guide of Piston Rings for Motorcycle
· Piston rings should be installed according to specified sequence; embed metal strip integrated oil ring, the second ring and the first ring into the groove in turn with the marked sides upward. The installation direction for metal strip integrated oil ring is as follows: First, install the lined rings into the oil groove, if the latch necessary, the latch should be pinned, if not, the gaps of lined rings should be staggered; Second, install the wiper blades into the groove. ( Do not stay gaps by tools and the gaps of lined rings should be kept staggered); Third, gently turn the metal strip integrated oil ring to ensure no jamming, the angle between the gaps of liner ring and the gaps of wiper blades should be kept at 90°.
The performance and service life are decided by the filtering performances of engineer. Please use quality oil and replace oil periodically to maintain the normal lubrication of engine.
